Amina Abdi
General Manager
Ms. Amina Abdi is the General Manager of the REITs Association of Kenya (RAK), where she leads the Secretariat and oversees the strategic coordination of the Association’s activities. In her role, she works closely with various committees, stakeholders, and industry players to advance RAK’s mandate of promoting the growth and development of Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) in Kenya and across the region.
With over four years of hands-on experience in the REIT sector, Amina has developed deep expertise in REIT structuring, policy advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and industry research. She plays a pivotal role in driving RAK’s strategic initiatives, including spearheading policy and regulatory reform efforts in collaboration with government bodies and regulators to create an enabling environment for REITs in Kenya.
Amina has successfully led the planning and execution of high-level industry engagements, including regional and pan-African conferences, investor forums, webinars, masterclasses, and training programs. She has also been instrumental in managing strategic partnerships and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with global and regional organizations, including the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT) in the United States.
Her work extends to research and knowledge development within the sector, where she has contributed to the drafting and publication of key industry reports, REIT data updates, and best practice guidelines. She is also actively involved in project implementation, financial oversight, and operational management within the Association.
Prior to joining RAK, Amina worked in the pharmaceutical industry as a Procurement Officer, where she built a strong foundation in supply chain management and operational efficiency. She also served at the African Securities Exchanges Association (ASEA), where she supported the Secretariat and contributed to flagship initiatives such as the African Exchanges Linkage Project (AELP), aimed at enhancing cross-border trading across African capital markets.
Amina holds a Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing and Supplies from Moi University. She is certified in Islamic Finance products, holds the ACSI qualification, and earned a diploma from the REIT Academy in Washington, USA.
